Kaiser Permanente Colorado Thriving Schools Initiative

Grants available to support your physical education and activity programs!

Kaiser Permanente Colorado is currently offering grants to select school districts to increase physical activity in schools to promote academic achievement.  The scope of the work plan in each district will vary based on the amount of funding available and capacity.

  • Eligibility: School Districts within Kaiser Permanente Colorado’s service areas.
  • Funding Amount: Ranges from $5,000 to $200,000 depending on the student population served and size of the district.
  • Timeline:
    • Proposals Due: October 14, 2013
    • Funding Notification: December 20, 2013
    • Funding Period: January 1, 2014 – June 30, 2015

  • SPARK (originally funded by the National Institutes of Health) offers proven, research-based solutions for increasing the quantity and quality of daily physical activity as well as improving nutrition.
  • SPARK physical education is the only nationally disseminated program that positively affects ALL of these student outcomes: activity levels (moderate to vigorous surpasses 50% of class time), fitness, sport skills, enjoyment, and academic achievement.
