SPARK Early Childhood was created for and during a study involving over 100 Title 1 Early Childhood classes in Memphis City Schools. When the project concluded in the winter of 2004, the results showed the curriculum was well received and highly rated by the Head Start teachers in the intervention setting. It also increased students’ moderate to vigorous activity (MVPA) levels to over 50% of class time and improved the number of minutes their children engaged in activity throughout the day.
