Ongoing professional development is the foundation of an effective research-based PE program. Whether in-person or virtual, the SPARK Professional Development offering provides flexible opportunities for educators to build knowledge, skills, and confidence. We work with you to develop the program that works best for you.
All SPARK professional development is designed to help teachers reflect on their teaching practices, improve their skills, and collaborate with peers. By the end of these active workshops, participants leave motivated and equipped to maximize student outcomes.
The objectives of SPARK Workshops are:
SPARK Program training and a variety of PE and Health topics available in-person, virtual, or hybrid.
Years of research shows 12 hours of professional development is the foundation for an effective PE program. Get started in as little as 3 hours.
To ensure we provide you with the best experience, SPARK trainings are scheduled through one of our knowledgeable SPARK representatives. We will connect with you to coordinate a training that engages teachers and creates a more active and healthy environment!
Note: SPARK in-person trainings must be booked 8 weeks in advance of requested workshop date. Please plan accordingly.
Tap into our network of our certified trainers, including SHAPE America Teacher of the Year Alumni, and other nationally recognized Physical Education and Health teachers, with expertise across a variety of PE topics such as maximizing MVPA, creating a positive learning environment, and inclusive Physical Education.
Each summer, SPARK hosts dynamic 2-day “Institutes” that take the SPARK experience to a whole new level. These sessions are designed to be even more immersive and enriching than the SPARK Premium Program.
Led by top program presenters and renowned authors, our interactive sessions foster a sense of professional camaraderie, making you feel like part of a family. Attendees leave not only having had a fantastic time but also feeling inspired and motivated to elevate their programs to new heights.
SPARK Trainers help participants to navigate the instructional materials, provide hands on learning experience with the lessons and demonstrate instructional and management strategies that foster best practices
SPARK institutes are not “Train the Trainer” programs. Completing both Institute days earns the title “SPARK Certified Instructor,” which is different than a “SPARK Certified Trainer.” A Trainer is licensed to conduct SPARK workshops for colleagues in their school, district or community. If you are interested in becoming a SPARK Certified Trainer, there is a program for that. Contact SPARK for more information.
To ensure the rights and privacy of our attendees, no videotaping is allowed by participants during SPARK Institute sessions.
